In an effort to respect the environment, Bologne has embarked upon a renewable energy drive, whereby all of its manufacturing waste materials are recycled and re-used.

• Bagasse, the fibrous residue of sugar cane, serves as fuel for the boiler that produces the steam used to generate electricity.

• Vinasse, the liquid residue that remains after distillation, is transformed through methanisation into gas and supplied to a generator.

• Smoke is treated using electro-filtration and the mineral-rich residue is spread as fertilizer in the fields.
